This is a reminder that Friday, March 8th, is an early release day for students.  Students will be dismissed at 1pm and buses will run the usual routes at that time.  The office will not be able to deliver lunches due to the shortened schedule.  Students will have the opportunity during the day to eat a snack or lunch from home or go to the cafeteria to pick up a sack lunch and bring it back to the classroom to eat. Spring Break Holiday is March 9 - 17, 2019. The school will be closed. The Clear Lake Intermediate teachers and staff wish your family a happy and safe Spring Break.  Classes will resume on March 18th.
PTA will be selling tickets for the Students vs. Staff Basketball game Wednesday and Thursday during all lunches.  The day of the game, Friday, March 8, tickets will only be sold in the morning before school.  Tickets will not be sold after school starts on Friday.  This is a fun time for the students that takes place during school hours. The game will start at 9:30 am and will be over by 11:00 am. Please send $3 with your child so they can purchase a ticket to attend.  Snacks will be available at the game for $1.  This event takes many hands and donations to be successful.  If you would like to donate some time or some items for this event, please contact the PTA Fundraising chair, Michelle Stuart, at nmsiii@sbcglobal.net.   PTA  helps fund projects at CLIS we would otherwise not have.  Things like the 6th and 7th grade socials and the 8th grade dance and the decorative rugs at the entrances and in the library are just a few of the many projects that are funded by PTA.  More than the money, the PTA volunteers donate time to organize events that bring people together like this basketball game.   The staff is very thankful for all that PTA does for Clear Lake Intermediate.
Eagle Parents/Guardians: Lisa Holbrook, Texas PTA Field Service Representative, has shared with us that we are just a short way away from the annual goal of increasing membership.  Twenty-eight of the forty-two local PTAs in CCISD have increased their membership.  Kudos to them! This is where you can make a difference.  If you have not joined the PTA, please consider joining.  The CLIS PTA has contributed financially to several things on campus but more importantly, they support us by organizing and staffing activities that involve students, teachers, and parents. Another reason to join is the reach that the PTA has across the state of Texas advocating for our students.  Ms. Holbrook wrote, “If the district goal is achieved, it means several things.  One is, Texas PTA will gain 618 more members, helping them to further strengthen their advocacy efforts.  This is critical as their upcoming Rally Day at the State Capitol in Austin is scheduled for February 25, 2019.  More importantly, Clear Creek Community Council will be recognized at the Diamond Level of Every Member Counts, having 100% of their locals reporting a membership increase.  To date, only one council in the entire Texas PTA organizational structure has achieved this.  And I have saved the best reason for last - the 41,000+ students in your district will be represented at the campus level by engaged and enthusiastic members, volunteers, and leaders, at the community level, and at the state level, and ultimately at the national level as our parent organization also represents students across the US on a regular basis in Washington DC. “ There are 2 ways to join.  You can submit a form with payment to the front office PTA Membership Form PDF .pdf  OR you can go to www.joinpta.org to sign up. It only takes a few minutes.
