2016-17 CLIS News

Monday, May 29th, all Clear Creek ISD schools and offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, a day to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.  School will resume on Tuesday, May 30th.  The last day of school for students is June 1st and will be an early release day with Clear Lake Intermediate students being dismissed at 1pm.  Due to the scheduled events and shortened schedule, we are not able to make any deliveries to students on that last day.  Students should not bring anything with them to school other than a lunch or snack to have during the day.  Yearbooks and a pen will also be allowed.  Please make sure once your student receives a yearbook that his or her name is on or inside of the book. Laptops and Tablets: The Laptop/tablet hospital is no longer accepting laptops or tablets for repair or replacement.  On May 31st, sixth grade students will turn in the tablet and charger issued to them at the beginning of the school year.  The charge for items not returned will be added to the student’s Skyward account and will remain on the account until items are paid for or returned.  The tablet is $541 and the charger is $30. Eighth graders will keep their laptops over the summer.  Information for summer repair times and locations will be coming out soon. Students are encouraged to have insurance coverage for their laptops.  If you have insurance, it will cover the laptop until the beginning of school in August.  If you do not, you may purchase it in the office or online.  Insurance purchased now will cover the laptop through the 2017-2018 school year.  The cost of insurance is $20 or $10 for students in the free/reduced lunch program. Library: All library books should have been turned in.  Please help us by reminding your student to turn in any books they still have and by looking around your home and family vehicles to see if any have been left behind.
May 25th will be the last day for students to bring their devices to the laptop/tablet hospital. 7th and 8th graders will be taking their laptops home for the summer and then will need to have them for school on August 21st; Eighth graders at their high schools, and 7th graders at CLIS. If your laptop is not working properly or is broken, May 25th is the last day to turn it in for repair or replacement. If it is broken and will need to be replaced, you need to check with the office to verify whether or not you have insurance. If you do not, you will be charged the cost of the repair. You may purchase insurance in the office or online if you need it.  The cost of insurance is $20 ($10 if you are in the free/reduced lunch program).
Monday, May 15th we will conduct a device check for only 7th and 8th grade laptops. Each student must have their device with them to be checked by their 1st period teacher. If they do not bring it to be checked before Friday, May 19th it will be assumed lost or stolen and a police report will be initiated. The device costs $541 and will be added to the student's Skyward account until the device is recovered.  If your student has lost their charger, one can be purchased at dell.com/ccisd. Purchase the Dell Slim Power Adapter 65. Your child will be bringing his/her device home over the summer. It is advisable that insurance has been purchased. The insurance cost is $20 for each school year (and following summer); $10 for those students on free/reduced lunch.  The insurance form is available online and in the front office.  Payments can be accepted online by credit card or in the office by cash, check, or money order.. If you have any questions, please call the front office during school hours at 281-284-3200.
